After garnering more than 30 years of experience as a coach at many levels, and developing an incredible eye for talent, Chet Kammerer begins his 15th year with the HEAT and his eighth in the role of Vice President, Player Personnel. Kammerer has excelled in a number of roles for the HEAT before being promoted to his current position in September of 2004. After joining the organization as a scout in 1997, he has been promoted to Director of Scouting prior to the 1998-99 season, appointed Director of College Scouting before the 1999-00 season and then spent four seasons (2000-04) as the team’s Director of Player Personnel.

Prior to joining the HEAT, Kammerer was an assistant coach for the L.A. Lakers from 1992-94. Following his time with the Lakers, he served as head coach of the Division I Professional Basketball Team of Braunschweig, Germany. Kammerer also served as a head coach for 27 years on the collegiate level and compiled a remarkable 542-256 (.679) overall record. He coached for 10 years at Grace (Ind.) College and then for 17 seasons at Westmont College where his teams compiled a sterling 359-156 record (.697). In his honor, Westmont College dedicated the newly renovated court at Murchison Gym as ‘Kammerer Court’ in a ceremony on December 13, 2008. On March 13, 2000, Kammerer was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame for his coaching achievements at the collegiate level.

Kammerer lives in Redondo Beach, CA. He and his wife, Sherill, have three grown children, Chad (an assistant coach for the HEAT), Shanda and Shariss and seven grandchildren, Maverick, Mason, Charlise, Cord, Ryder, Stetson and Natasha.
